Mike Behr Photography

who is MIKE BEHR?

Mike Behr was born in Leatherhead Surrey, son of a Greek mother and English father. He was locally educated together with his elder brother Nick. His grandfather once presented him with a Kodak Brownie 620 box camera which stirred his initial interest in the photographic medium. Mike & Nick developed their early enterprising flair by constructing a photographic enlarger and printed photos for their school friends. Their darkroom was the loo.

Mike went on to attend full time college for six years at Kingston school of Art where he qualified as an architect, followed by a three year part time photographic course at the London Polytechnic. During his colourful and exciting photographic career, he has been commissioned by such glossy magazines as “Classic Cars”.

He has pursued his passion, fine tuning his natural artistic abilities with a wide range of subjects from all over the world including sports photography in Australia & America. To date he has enjoyed many successful exhibitions of his work.

“Where ever you look, you will always find a subject to photograph”

Today with the aid of modern technology, digital photography is officially recognised by the Royal Photographic Society because it has succeeded in breaking the present confines of professional photography, raising it to a superior level and increasing its visual pleasure and appeal. Mike says that the greatest advice he has ever had on taking photographs is: “Never take a photo at eye level or between 10.00 in the morning and 4.00 in the afternoon”

“Nature is everything man is born to...
but art is the interpretation he makes of it.”
